The Return of the King

by J.R.R. Tolkien

In this third part of The Lord of the Rings, there is a great battle during which Frodo reaches Mt. Doom with the ring. Later, the rightful king is crowned and the hobbits return home to the Shire and put it to rights again.

I'll admit that, while I found the story very entertaining, I'm glad to finally get to the satisfying conclusion.

The Black Joke

by Farley Mowatt

Two Newfoundland boys attempt to take their father's schooner back from the rum-runners who stole it. This is a great adventure story for boys.

The Two Towers

by J.R.R. Tolkien

In this second part of the story The Lord of the Rings, the fellowship of the ring has been broken and Frodo and Sam go in one direction and everyone else in another. The wizard Gandalf returns and Frodo is captured in the evil land of Mordor.

OK, the story is interesting, but it's beginning to get a little long.

The dramatic true story of a former planned parenthood leader's eye-opening journey across the life line
by Abby Johnson

Abby was first a volunteer, then employee and director of an abortion clinic, who became  pro-life after helping with an ultrasound-guided abortion.

This excellent book helped me see the abortion issue from both sides of the "fence". Abby's compassionate view of everyone in her story is so helpful in understanding some of the emotions and dilemmas involved.

168 Hours

you have more time than you think

by Loura Vanderkam

How to make the best possible use of you time and accomplish your goals. Very focused on career climbing.

I thought some of the suggestions for maximizing your time were helpful, but I don't agree with the theme of more, making more money, doing more in your day, more career success.

The Organic Family Cookbook

by Anni Daulter

Breakfasts, snacks, lunches, dinners, sides, desserts and extras. A very nice book with lots of fruits and vegetables.

My first glace through this book was not very encouraging, but I'm glad I looked again because it's really a great book with lots of good ideas.
